About: My name is John Fitzgerald, and everyone calls me Fitz. I am the Next Step Adviser at Avery High School and the Crossnore Community School. I am a first generation college graduate. I have a background in Social Sciences, and I originally studied Political Science at Appalachian State and graduated from North Carolina Central University with a B.S. in Behavioral Science. Working with students, I try to empower them, helping them make a well informed decision about what they want to do next after high school. When I grow up, I want to be a counselor, and I am hopeful my work here will help me achieve my next goal of going to graduate school and starting either the CMHC, MSW, or Professional School Counseling program at Appalachian State.
