James Beeler, Ed.D

About:  As the Executive Director of College Access Partnerships at Appalachian State University (CAP), Dr. Beeler leads a team that administers six grant-based programs of over $50M in committed funding since 2020, with the vision that all students in western North Carolina will be college ready. Dr. Beeler has 30 years of experience in K-12 and higher education including teaching, consulting, and directing large grants. Dr. Beeler previously worked as Chief Learning Officer at Digital Promise, a non-profit working with education leaders, researchers, and technology developers to close the digital learning gap. He directed the Verizon Innovative Learning project that provided technology to every child and teacher in low-income middle schools and professional learning opportunities to school educators. Prior to that, he worked for Apple, Inc. as a senior manager consulting with school districts and universities on using technology to drive innovation and continuous improvement. Prior to that, he was a middle and high school history teacher and technology coordinator.
