Clayton Craft

About: With over a decade of experience in financial management, I have a strong background in both federal grant administration and the veterinary field. In my current role as a Senior Accountant at Appalachian State University, I specialize in the financial management of federal grants, applying my knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and GEAR UP rules. My responsibilities include consulting with external partners on financial documentation, communicating resolutions to the team, and ensuring internal controls are maintained.

Before my current position, I was an Accounting Technician at Appalachian State University, where I processed reimbursement and cost share submissions, applied federal compliance practices, and made recommendations for more efficient procedures. I also have experience as a licensed independent insurance agent and as a veterinary and surgical technician. As a veterinary technician, I performed a variety of laboratory and surgical procedures, maintained accurate records, and prepared samples for outside analysis. In my role as a Laboratory Research Specialist at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), I also taught complex laboratory procedures, assisted with surgical procedure budgets for grant applications, and refined experimental procedures. I will graduate in December 2025 with a Bachelor of Science focusing Non-profit Leadership and Grant Management from Appalachian State University. I'm also a licensed Veterinary Technician in North Carolina.
