In order to qualify for Upward Bound a student must attend Ashe County, Avery County, West Wilkes, or Watauga High School. The student must also come from a family in which neither of the parents has a four-year college degree or meet income guidelines established by the federal government and have a need for academic support.

Qualifying students can apply to join the program during the 9th and 10th grade. Student application forms are provided below.

To apply to the 2007 Upward Bound program, students must submit each of the following forms by February 25, 2007.

• Student Application Form (student completes form)
• Academic Needs Assesment (parent signs form)
• Eligibility Form (parent completes form and attaches most recent
  tax return)
• Teacher Recommendation Form (student signs form and gives it to a math, science, or language arts teacher to complete and mail directly to Upward Bound)
