What is a GEAR UP Summer Leader?

A Summer Leader with the Appalachian GEAR UP Partnership program is an enthusiastic role model who supervises, mentors, leads and guides middle school students as they attend overnight camp on the campus of ASU.

Activities include experimental learning, outdoor science activities, cultural and art activities, as well as physical activities such as swimming and the climbing wall. Each group of students will be on campus for two days and one night. Summer Leaders will facilitate and supervise activities with our students. Summer Leaders will stay overnight in the dorms during the week, and have weekends free.
