What is a GEAR UP Summer Leader?

A Summer Leader with the Appalachian GEAR UP Partnership program is an enthusiastic role model who supervises, mentors, leads and guides high school and middle school students as they attend a summer camp on the campus of ASU.  Employment will run from June 15 - July 24, 2009.

Activities include experimental learning, outdoor science activities, cultural and art activities, as well as physical activities such as swimming and the climbing wall. High school students will be on campus for five days and four nights while middle school students will attend for two days and one night. Summer Leaders will facilitate and supervise activities with our students. Summer Leaders will stay overnight in the residence halls during the week, and have weekends free.
