            The Western North Carolina Network for Access and Success, a member of the Appalachian Higher Education Network (AHEN), is a collaborative for college access programming, public schools, and higher education in western North Carolina. The Western NC Network serves as a clearinghouse of information and activities related to improving access to higher education and includes:

            • Directory of College Preparation Opportunities
            • Funding Opportunities for K-12 Schools in NC
            • WNC Network Directory

            Housed at Appalachian State University, The Network serves the Appalachian region of North Carolina and provides opportunities for high schools in the twenty-nine Appalachian Regional Commission counties in North Carolina apply for mini-grants to establish College Access programs on their high school campus. more>>

            WNC Network for Access and Success receives $200,000 in supplemental funding for 2009. [read press release]

            Petschauer to Direct ARC Higher Education Project for College Access and Student Success  Joni Petschauer has been named director of the newly established ARC Higher Education Project for College Access and Student Success, based at Appalachian. The project has been established by a $200,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). [read the press release]

            ARC Program Boosting College-Attendance Rates.

            During a visit to Meigs County High School in Decatur, Tennessee, ARC Federal Co-Chair Anne B. Pope released a study demonstrating the success of the ARC-supported Appalachian Higher Education (AHE) Network in boosting college-attendance rates. [read the press release]

            Region: the Ohio Appalachian Center for Higher Education (OACHE) and the West Virginia Access Center for Higher Education (WVACHE)
